Position Title: School Secretary/Clerk
Reports To: Principal
Primary Function: Assures the smooth and efficient operation of the assigned office in a friendly and professional manner. Receives the public, operates the telephone system, serves as a key communicator and coordinator relating to essential operation of the office. Performs other clerical duties as needed.
Requirements: Educational Level: High School Diploma or equivalent. Formal training in office practices and experience preferred.
Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills, ability to operate office machinery and deal with multiple tasks, computer competence, typing and proof reading skills.
Personal Skills: Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical skills and stamina to perform essential duties.
1. Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance.
2. Ensures primary workstation and responsibilities are covered at all times during the working day.
3. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in typing and word processing skills as applicable to job responsibilities.
4. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in spreadsheet applications as applicable to job responsibilities.

27. Maintains an automated Activity Accounting System and provides information regarding accounts as requested.
28. Maintains bank accounts, including monthly balancing.
29. Submits audit reports to the central office in a timely manner.
30. Prepares and processes purchase orders and work orders as needed.
31. Assists in maintaining daily attendance logs for teachers, substitutes and other school employees as directed by the principal.
32. Seeks and maintains appropriate training and skills in all operations of the Student Information System; acts as backup for SIS.
33. Maintains the skills to keep payroll records as required by the central office.
34. Serves as liaison to the central office in the handling of insurance matters, workers compensation claims, etc.
35. Directs callers and visitors to the appropriate personnel and provides general information when requested
36. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
37. Maintains the student information system, including enrollment, attendance, grade reporting, and scheduling (elementary schools only). Submits data for Local, State and Federal reporting requirements.
