Overview: Interstate Waste Services is the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services in the country! Responsibilities: Day Shift Monday-Friday 11:45am-8:1Spm, every other Saturday 4am - 4pm Job Highlights: Scale Operator The Scale Operator will be mainly responsible for weighing in and weight out solid waste vehicles from both company drivers and third party vendors/haulers. They will be in charge of receiving payments, checking loads, and ensuring the safety of the landfill and scale at all times. Additional Responsibilities: Scale Operator Serve as first point of contact for any drivers, customers, or other traffic at the scale house Accurately calculate and process payments, weights and other measurements Verify incoming loads do not contain any unnecessary or inappropriate material Various administrative tasks including regular filing, data entry and reporting Provide general upkeep of the scale house Additional duties as assigned. Work Environment: Scale Operator This Scale Operator will be based out of our Newark, NJ location. This shift will be an overnight position with 3 days on 4 days off, 4 days on 3 days off schedule. Required to use motor coordination such as typing, machine operating, etc. throughout the greater part of the work day Daily exposure to physical environment including odors, loud noises, weather elements, etc. Performs other duties as assigned Requirements: Scale Operator Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States. High school/GED education completed, higher education is a plus. Minimum 2 years of warehouse environment experience. Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred. Experience working with scales is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of general computer skills. Knowledgeable in the safe operation of all garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists, and jacking equipment Consistently capable of working independently to safely analyze and resolve problems. Fluency in English required, Spanish bilingual is a plus.
