Job Description
The Landscape Sales Designer must be thoroughly familiar with designing all aspects of landscape construction to include site analysis, grading, drainage, plant selection and placement, hardscape (patios, walkways, decks, barbecues, gazebos, water features, lighting, etc.; and be able to design the same using software. Understand the uses of landscape architectural principles, codes, and standards in landscape architectural design, including site planning, site layout and detailing, hardscape, grading, erosion control, planting design and irrigation design.
Must have excellent analytical as well as aesthetic skills, provide excellent customer service and be able to do take-offs. Interfaces with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, will also interface with the company Production, Sales, and accounting personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs site analysis, material and code research, landscape area and material quantities, grading impacts, and cost estimates, and provides other supporting documentation for projects.
Responsible for site renderings and illustrations.
Demonstrates proficiency in the use of commonly used programs such as AutoCAD to create drawings for schematic, design development and construction documents. Knowledge and ability to prepare visually appealing and creative color rendered presentation drawings electronically.
Provide support to other team members and Project Manager(s).
Landscape Design: 45–55%
Sales & Client Interaction: 45–55%
Designs, estimates, and sells yearly sales goals and budgets of work annually.
Interfaces with client and ensures that all of client’s concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
Establishes design budgets and deadlines for clients, collects down payment for design from client, designs project, conducts appropriate site analysis and conducts environmental impact assessments.
Continually informs and updates Project Manager(s) as to design progress or lack thereof.
Presents final design and collects final payment from client.
Conducts site visits and ensures project is produced as designed with appropriate materials.
Analyzes and approves all change orders.
Thoroughly understands and complies with company policies, procedures, and SOPs.
Assists in the development and implementation of the company’s strategic plan, and achievement of company’s annual budget goals, new business development and company training and marketing goals.
Continuing education requirement: minimum of 20 hours per year
Understands the approval and permitting process for landscape architectural and land planning projects.
Communicates in a timely and effective manner within a team and with clients, various agencies, and other practice areas and disciplines working on a project.
Understands project goals, project schedules, and budgets with the ability to work efficiently within project guidelines and direction provided by team members and project manager(s).
Demonstrates organizational skills in completing assigned work.
Ability to work on multiple tasks and projects.
