Job Title: First Team Sports Science & Nutrition Intern Reports to: Head of Science & Nutrition Department: Sports Performance Position Summary: This internship provides the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience working in a professional soccer organization. The sports science and nutrition internship position will assist staff supporting FCC and FCC2 players. This position will be based out of the Mercy Health Training Center in Milford, Ohio. The duration of the internship is from February/March - November. Flexible working days, on average 4 days a week, mainly working 9am-2pm/3pm. This is an hourly paid position & college credit is available if required. What You'll Do: Assist the Head of Sports Science and Nutrition and Player Development Coach with the collection, storage and analysis of player data and provide effective feedback to key stakeholders Support the club-wide monitoring strategies for FCC and FCC2 players to individually monitor each player within the team and micro-manage those players to mitigate injury risk and optimize player health, well-being and readiness Lead on the collection of FCC and FCC2 player daily wellness information, storage and feedback Utilize different technologies to determine player internal and external training load and their response to training Support staff with on-pitch equipment set-up and clearance for team-based and individual sessions Assist the Head of Sports Science and Nutrition to develop an educational resource/program for players in areas such as Nutrition, Lifestyle, Preparation and Recovery to complement existing education provided by coaches and performance department staff Perform regular player weighing and hydration assessment with feedback and recommendations Perform regular inventory for nutritional supplements and provide appropriate feedback What You'll Bring: Willingness to learn and receive feedback Creative, dynamic, and enthusiastic personality Excellent organizational and time-management skills Ability to demonstrate appropriately with a motivational coaching style Ability to communicate information in a manner that is easily understood by a range of audiences Ability to collaborate successfully as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team to solve performance problems What You'll Need: Enrolled in an Exercise Science undergraduate or higher program or just completed Experience maintaining databases and working with athlete monitoring systems Knowledge of sports science, strength and conditioning science, sports nutrition, and sports medicine Proficient in the use of common sports science technological equipment and software Why You'll Love FCC: FCC welcome gifts Resume and profile reviews Tour of TQL Stadium and MHTC Discount off team store merchandise Community volunteer opportunities Job shadow opportunities Paid hourly and/or college credit opportunities About FCC Founded in 2015, FC Cincinnati is a Major League Soccer team based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
